18.03.2022, New Delhi.

Indian companies are ready to replace producers of medicines and other goods that left Russia, Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov said on March 18 on the air of the TV channel Russia 24.

“The departure of many Western companies from the Russian market – the niches that have been vacated can actually be occupied by Indian companies in many sectors, particularly in pharmaceuticals,” the Russian ambassador said.

India is “the world’s pharmacy” and a leading producer of copies of original drugs (generics) that are “not worse than the originals,” Alipov noted.

India did not accede to the UN resolution recognizing Russia as a country-aggressor and has taken a neutral position.

India is also discussing with Russia the purchase for rubles and rupees of Urals oil, which used to be bought mainly in Europe.

During the week, 7 million barrels of Russian Urals oil were bought by Indian state and private refining companies.
