Russian Foreign Ministry responds to the Polish Foreign Ministry's invective against Russia

09.11.2021, Moscow.

On November 9, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova published a response to the statement of Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Łukasz Jasin about Moscow’s alleged exploitation of the Polish-Belarusian border crisis on her Telegram channel.

She briefly cited the Polish official’s thesis that Russia allegedly lies and manipulates facts, which allegedly provokes increased tension in Europe. Zakharova responded that tension has been growing in Europe for many years.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry pointed out that these tensions are growing due to the loss of independence by several European countries in the name of the interests of non-European countries, as well as due to irresponsible interference in the internal affairs of independent states and double standards professed by certain countries.

Zakharova went on to give examples of such destructive policies. She recalled the destruction of Iraqi statehood by the hands of the US administration and its allies, including Poland. “The Western-sponsored Arab Spring, the NATO campaign against Libya, the West’s intervention in Syria and support for international terrorism there, and most importantly, the emergence of ISIL [organization banned in Russia] on the territory of the destroyed Iraqi state – all this led to a mass exodus of refugees and migrants from that part of the world to Europe,” she gave a long list of Western actions and their consequences.

Maria Zakharova urged not to pretend that the situation had begun recently. The crisis on the Belarusian-Polish border is only a small piece of the whole picture. In her opinion, lying and manipulating the facts is just the ability to turn a blind eye to the overall situation and lie to themselves.
