Lavrov accuses the West of creating a belt of instability around Russia

23.07.2021, Moscow.

The West is creating a belt of instability around Russia, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, as the REGNUM news agency informed on July 23.

“They are trying to create a belt of instability around us, forcing our closest neighbors and brotherly peoples to choose – ‘either you are with the West or you are with the Russian Federation’,” he said.

He clarified that the West acts in this way in Ukraine and has tried to do the same in Belarus. Lavrov also pointed out US and EU interference in the internal political process during the election campaign in Moldova. The West was conducting open propaganda in this country, pursuing its geopolitical goals.

The head of the Foreign Ministry added that now the West is trying to expand its presence in the countries of Central Asia and Transcaucasia bordering Russia, thus bringing its military potential closer to the Russian borders.

Sergey Lavrov was included in the all-federal part of the list of the United Russia party.
