The war in Donbass is like the Civil War in Spain in the 1930s, and it is a rehearsal for the final showdown between those forces that want to see Man as a beast and those that dream of his ascent, political scientist and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said in the Topic program of the Donetsk Union TV channel on May 5.
According to the political scientist, “at the bottom” of the anthropological collapse of Western Man, whose motto is “homo homini lupus est“, two forces will meet in a final battle. One of them dreams of the virtuous Man and his ascent, while the other wants the final transformation of Man into a beast.
“Isn’t what is happening in Donbass the rehearsal for something [the last battle]? Isn’t that the great meaning of what is happening there?” – Kurginyan asked.
He recalled that he had once already compared the Donbass to Spain during the Civil War of 1936-1939. This time “fascism failed to prevail,” the expert stressed. Russia’s proximity to the Donbass had an impact – it helped it to hold out.
According to the expert, the meaning of the Donbass confrontation, “a gloomy, monstrous and at the same time great ‘rehearsal’ of the final showdown,” refers to the previous deadly battle of our people with fascism, when it was sung: “Black birds dare not to fly above the motherland“. And at the same time, its meaning is associated with “slipping down,” where “not an idyll looms at all, but something quite different,” stressed Sergey Kurginyan.
The Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) was an armed conflict between the left-wing socialist (Republican) government of the country, supported by communists, and the right-wing monarchist forces who rose in armed revolt together with the majority of the Spanish army headed by General Franco.
The Soviet Union and antifascist volunteers from many countries around the world sided with the Republicans. The Francoists were supported by Nazi Germany and fascist Italy. The war ended with the establishment of Franco’s military dictatorship.
