Russia strengthened its position on a global stage and showed that it can correctly resolve the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, political scientist Yakov Kedmi said on November 10 on the air of the Full Contact program on the Vesti FM radio station.
“Russia’s position has improved both in this region [Karabakh] and worldwide,” Kedmi said. The only “flaw is that Turkish soldiers will be on Azerbaijani territory this way or another. The increasing influence of Turkey is also negative outcome.”
Turkey’s participation, judging from its military presence in Libya and Syria, is destructive rather than constructive, Kedmi believes. But the expert is not convinced that it was possible to avoid it at the moment.
“Based on the situation and what happened in the area, we can say that Russia’s authority has become much greater,” the expert concluded.
On November 10, the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan announced the cessation of armed clashes in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Russian peacekeepers have left for the region and will be based on the demarcation line. According to the agreements, the troops of Azerbaijan and Karabakh remain at their positions at the moment.
