US sanctions imposed on Syria are illegitimate, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated said at a trilateral videoconference meeting with leaders of Turkey and Iran on July 1.
Speaking at a videoconference with Iranian President Hassan Rukhani and his Turkish counterpart Recep Erdogan, the Russian leader has said that US sanctions are illegal and undermining the Syrian economy.
The Iranian leader also denounced US actions against the Syrian authorities, saying that Washington plundered Syria’s natural resources claiming that it is fighting against terrorism.
The face-to-face meeting of the three leaders was postponed due to an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection, the summit was held as a videoconference.
