Kurginyan explains why apologies for racism will backfire

Apologizing to a social group results in its sequestration, political scientist and the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on the air of the Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov TV program on the Russia One channel on June 7.

“If you want to find the best way to split off a group, you should apologize to it. Helping a group is fine. But as soon as you start apologizing, the group understands that it will be paid, and it separates to get the money. And that is the end of it,” the political scientist explained.

Protests against racism and police brutality have been taking place across the USA after a video was published showing a police officer suffocating a black Minneapolis resident, George Floyd.

After several days of riots some whites began to kneel on one knee before blacks to express their apologies to the protesters. Similar events took place in the UK, where police officers kneeled on one knee. In Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau apologized to the protesters.

Similar events took place in Ukraine during the coup d’etat in 2014, when “Berkut” riot police servicemen were forced to kneel and apologize to the Maidan activists.
