The US supports the Israeli strikes against Iranian military facilities in Syria, US Special Representative for Syria James Jeffrey told the Asharq al-Awsat newspaper on May 2.
“Washington in all the ways, diplomatically and logistically supports the Israeli strikes on Iranian facilities in Syria,” Jeffrey said. He stressed that all foreign players must leave the Syrian Arab Republic (SAR).
They are Iran, the US, Israel and Turkey, but not Russia, the diplomat said. “Our policy is that all Iranian troops must leave Syria along with other military forces that were introduced after 2011,” Jeffrey explained.
Russia has the right to stay in Syria, because Russian troops appeared in the country before 2011. “All the rest came after the beginning of the war,” said the diplomat.
