A book to slay the monster

16.06.2018, Vologda.

Valery Yesipov has presented his new book entitled The Book That Tricked The World that is dedicated to the works of Alexander Solzhenitsyn. The book talk occurred in Vologda on June 16 during a regular event in the memory of Vologda writer Varlam Shalamov, a Rossa Primavera News Agency correspondent reports on June 16.

The subheading of the Vologda journalist and a Varlam Shalamov’s works researcher Valery Yesipov reads Frankly on The Gulag Archipelago. The book contains numerous materials ranging from letters of repressed and war veterans to multiple authors’ academic articles – exposing, as the author believes, the lies of Solzhenitsyn.

“It was a very necessary book at a very appropriate time for the West. Right after the book has seen the light of day, Reagan called the USSR ‘an evil empire’. The book goes in great detail through all the alterations of Solzhenitsyn’s subversive activities, the myths he made up and inculcated in the people’s minds. The ‘Archipelago’ is less than 10% true, the rest is lies”, the author said during the event.

“The ‘Archipelago’ remains a powerful ideological weapon, the book strikes right in the brain: ‘Your Motherland is a monster, my son’. OK, it was a monster the day before yesterday, but who said it is any different today? They didn’t know all the truth back then too! So, go on reading, this is the truth”, said Zachar Prilepin, a writer, in the introductory world to Yesipov’s book.

The year 2018 is announced to be a year of Alexander Solzhenitsyn due to his centennial anniversary. An initiative to erect a monument to the writer is launched in Moscow. In contrast, protest events against inculcating Solzhenitsyn’s ideas to people’s minds are taking place all over Russia.
