The results of the elections showed that the Russian people expect the presidential action on replacing the elite, Russian film director Nikita Mikhalkov said on March 19 during the Evening with Vladimir Soloviev TV-show on the Russia-1 TV-channel.
“People’s great hope is that the President will find strength and ability to replace the elite,” said Nikita Mikhalkov.
People from the Russian provinces, those who know the issues, are able to work hard, and have proven themselves should be the decision makers in the central government, the director believes.
“I think that people are expecting just that. Therefore, we have such [election results]. If people knew that everything would remain as it is, then there would not be such figures, “ Mikhalkov said.
On March 18, Russia held the presidential election. Vladimir Putin, the current President of Russian Federation, won by a wide margin. According to the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Russian Federation, Putin won 76.11% of the vote.
