28.08.2017, Russia.

Joint air defense system was installed in Syria, Deputy Air Force Commander of the High Command of the Russian Aerospace Forces Sergey Mesheriakov said during the Army-2017 international forum on August 25.
He specified that the Syrian radar station is connected with the air defense systems deployed at the Russian airbase in Khmeimim, forming a unified system. The system includes S-400, Pantsir-S1, and anti-aircraft guns and ensures full control over the Syrian sky; it is capable of destroying all targets, including drones without using too expensive and unnecessary destruction means.

On April 7, after the US launched Tomahawk cruise missiles to strike Syrian army Shairat airbase, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Defence, Major General Igor Konashenkov said that Russia will help the Syrian Arab Republic to strengthen the air defense of the critical Syrian infrastructure.
