The only reliable way to prevent hacking into a digital system remains rejecting such a system altogether, philosopher, political scientist, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan stated on October 5 during the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio.
“Are there ways to prevent intrusion into digital systems? Yes, it is the absence of such a digital systems itself! Stop saying nonsense that complete digital security is possible! Are these stories are intended for, I don’t know, wonderful classical ballet dancers or singers? Don’t tell this to people who are actually involved in this field! Full electronic protection doesn’t exist, and it never will,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement explained.
He emphasized that the problem affects more than just Russia’s systems. Kurginyan recalled reports of hackers breaching US government agencies and noted that a system’s high complexity inherently creates additional vulnerabilities.
“We constantly hear about hackers, not just regarding breaking into Russia’s systems (I assure you, Russia’s systems are transparent), but also the FBI, right? Someone broke into the system, downloaded everything, and now they know everything about everyone,” the philosopher noted.
In Kurginyan’s view, digitizing data directly linked to property rights, especially immovable property, and the functioning of the state is particularly dangerous.
“The more complex a system is, the more vulnerable it becomes. If property data is digitized, stealing that property is piece of cake! They’ll be stolen in a matter of seconds,” the political scientist declared.
At the same time, he emphasized that he was not calling for a rejection of modern technology or a return to entirely paper-based systems. According to Kurginyan, the priority is to abandon the notion that the digital environment can be made completely secure.
