For the Bolsheviks, the admission that Man is extremely imperfect and that he can eventually eliminate any life was combined with a hope that this can be improved, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said in his congratulatory address on the anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution on November 7.
“Their dream was to transform Man from an intellectual animal with respective murder weapons into something absolutely different, of the supreme quality. They called that ‘a new Man,’ and this kind of a transformation was called new humanism,” Kurginyan said.
According to the political scientist, this kind of a dream existed in the context of extremely heated belief in the power of History and the so-called Mole of History, which, according to the philosopher, many people discussed: the communists, and Herzen, and Blok, and Thomas Aquinas.
The leader of Essence of Time expressed confidence that it is this belief that gave people knowledge beyond any doubt that they would create “a new Man” with their own hands, and that he would be much more creative, deep, multi-dimensional, spiritual, passionate, cosmic, etc.
“Some people called this God Incarnate, some said that the God told the people to further create Man this way… No matter how it happened. The point is that it happened,” Kurginyan said.
As an example, the political scientist referred to a statement of a key figure of the Great October Socialist Revolution, Anatoly Lunacharsky, who, speaking before Soviet writers, poets, artists, said in a passionate and enthusiastic manner that the contemporary generation of the artists should enjoy their time as “the salt of the earth” and “spiritual guides” as well as deserve this high status.
“Because when we create a new generation, now in the socialist way, the weakest one of thus created will have a potential higher than Goethe,” the leader of Essence of Time quoted Lunacharsky.
