Kurginyan tells when a convergence between the USA and the USSR was possible

A convergence between the USSR and the USA was possible in the 1940s, because then US president Franklin Roosevelt liked the USSR and personally Stalin, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on October 18 on the program Conversation with a Sage on the Zvezda radio station.

The political scientist noted that the USA of that period was a severely fascistized country, and in view of its economical crisis a Hitler supporter could have become its following president. However, Roosevelt successfully prevented that.

Kurginyan reminded that Roosevelt was an outstanding and very strong-willed person who made a revolution in the technological foundation of the USA. To this end, he used, in particular, the experience of the USSR.

He changed the technological foundation of the United States in an absolutely revolutionary manner. The Tennessee Valley and everything he did to transform the USA from an ordinary industrial power into a super-industrial, i.e. a new power, all that was due to himself and the people he found,” the philosopher noted.

According to Kurginyan, Roosevelt understood that only a war could save his country from the deepest depression it was in. The corporation Tennessee Valley Authority that he established and the construction projects to hire the unemployed played a positive role, but only a huge arms race that the USA initiated after entering the war against Germany, including the creation of the nuclear weapons, managed to drive the country out of the crisis.

But the most surprising thing about him was that he liked the Soviet Union… And he liked Stalin personally. And he felt some deep consonance. And if he had not… somehow ceased to be, perhaps there would have been a Marshall Plan for the Soviet Union. And maybe Stalin would have accepted it. And we would have had an absolutely different world,” the political scientist said.

Kurginyan expressed confidence that a convergence between the USSR and the USA was possible under Roosevelt. His had a team that admired the Soviet Union. And the Tennessee Valley project was a copy of what was done in the USSR, where high-technology zones were created to build railways, to make an expansion into the Subarctic etc.

He [Roosevelt] admired the Soviets, he wanted to copy them. And his idea of a Marshall Plan and a deepest convergence exactly of the USA with the Soviet Union minus Europe, without any special reference to Europe, was real, too,” the leader of the Essence of Time movement stressed.
