Polish president says Ukraine no longer hopes for Polish aid

29.10.2024, Warsaw.

The decline in the partnership level between Poland and Ukraine is due to Poland’s refusal to increase military supplies to Kiev, stated Polish President Andrzej Duda on October 29 during a broadcast on Radio Zet.

When asked by the host if Ukraine no longer respects Poland’s opinion after receiving weapon supplies for the Ukrainian armed units, Duda responded, “In some sense, it might look like that.”

The Polish president explained that Zelensky’s behavior is influenced by the opinions of the primary donors supporting Ukraine. According to Duda, Poland cannot supply weapons to Kiev at the expense of its own security. “Life is harsh,” he concluded.

Poland’s aid to Ukraine during the special military operation reached 100 billion zlotys ($26 billion), which amounts to 3.3% of Poland’s GDP. The cost of weapons supplied to Kiev within this sum is $5 billion.
