Russian soldiers expelled Ukrainian armed units from the island zone in the Dnepr delta, the governor of Kherson Region Vladimir Saldo stated on October 19, as reported by RIA Novosti.
Saldo clarified that the larger islands are under the direct control of Russian military forces, while the smaller islands are under their fire control.
Ukrainian militants periodically attempt to reach the left bank of the river using inflatable boat, which Saldo described as suicidal attempts. According to him, these attempts are intercepted by Russian artillery forces. Most of the boats are destroyed, with only a small fraction managing to return empty-handed.
