IDF expands closed military zone in Northern Israel

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) declared five additional areas in northern Israel as closed military zones, the army’s press service announced on October 12.

“Based on the situation assessment, it was decided that starting today (Saturday) at 20:00 (coinciding with Moscow time), the areas of Zar’it, Shomera, Shtula, Netu’a, and Even Menachem will be declared closed military zones,” the statement read.

The IDF specified that entry into this zone is strictly prohibited.

It is noted that approximately 230 rockets were fired at Israeli territory by the Shiite Lebanese movement Hezbollah on October 11.

Military data provided for the period until 23:00 (Moscow time) indicated, “Approximately 230 rockets launched by the terrorist organization Hezbollah crossed the Lebanon-Israel border.”

On October 1, Israel launched a ground operation against Hezbollah on Lebanese territory. Additionally, its airstrikes on Lebanon continue. The number of casualties has exceeded 2,000 people, and the number of refugees has reached one million.
