Russia should prepare for Western strikes deep inside the country, Deputy Secretary of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev wrote on his Telegram channel on September 17.

Certain groups in the West are calling for strikes deep into Russia. Medvedev said the United States and the European Union have no restrictions.

Therefore, the country needs to prepare to repel such strikes. This should be done carefully, Medvedev said

Ukraine has been persistently asking the West to approve the use of its weapons supplied to the country for strikes on targets deep inside Russia. The Russian side makes it clear that such approval will not go unpunished on its part.

The Guardian wrote that the decision to authorize the Ukrainian armed units to use the UK’s Storm Shadow cruise missiles against targets deep inside Russia has already been made. However, it has not yet been officially announced.

President Putin said that the West’s discussion of authorization to use long-range weapons on Russian territory is actually a decision to engage directly in the conflict. In this case, the essence of hostilities will be changed if NATO countries take part in them.

Russia will make decisions based on the threats it receives, Putin said.
