No negotiations were disrupted because there was nothing to disrupt. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this on August 18, the ministry’s press service informed on August 19.

The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova commented on information published in The Washington Post that Ukraine’s attack on Kursk Region allegedly prevented negotiations between representatives of Moscow and Kiev.

She emphasized that nothing was disrupted because there was nothing to disrupt. Russia has not conducted and is not conducting any negotiations, including indirect ones, on the protection of civilian critical infrastructure with the Kiev regime.

According to Zakharova, the security of facilities such as the Zaporozhye NPP and the Kursk NPP is threatened exclusively by the actions of the Ukrainian armed units supported by the United States and other Western countries.

Zakharova noted that the Russian Armed Forces do not strike civilian objects but rather protect them from the Ukrainian armed units, which use Western weapons.

The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said that the Ukrainian armed units attacked Kursk Region at 5:30 a.m. on August 6. Their advance was stopped. The operation in the Kursk region will conclude with the defeat of the enemy and the establishment of control over the state border.

In the Kursk, Belgorod, and Bryansk Regions, a counter-terrorism operation (CTO) regime is in effect to ensure the safety of citizens.
