Russian warships enter the Indian port of Kochi

Warships of Russia’s Pacific Fleet have entered the port of Kochi, located on the coast of the Arabian Sea in southwestern India, the press service of the Russian Embassy wrote on August 6.

The ships in question are the Guards Order of Nakhimov missile cruiser Varyag and frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov. It is specified that they “made a strategic call to the port of Kochi”.

The statement emphasizes that the visit signifies strong maritime cooperation between Russia and India.

The press service of the Pacific Fleet noted that in the port the ships will replenish supplies, and crew members will be able to visit the city on excursions, as well as take part in sporting events with Indian sailors.

The cruise of the Pacific Fleet ships began on January 22, 2024. During this time, they have already made visits to ports in India, Sri Lanka, Iran, Qatar, and Eritrea.
