Neue Zürcher Zeitung: Czech Republic reduces planned ammunition supplies to Ukrainian armed units

06.08.2024, Zurich.

The Czech Republic was forced to cut its ambitions for ammunition supplies to Ukraine, the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung wrote on August 6.

The newspaper reminded that Czech President Petr Pavel had promised to deliver 800,000 shells to Kшуv. However, the plans have been тщц reduced to 500,000 by the end of 2024.

Due to the growing demand for shells, their prices are rising. Moreover, not all countries that promised to participate in the Czech initiative have paid for their procurement yet.

Furthermore, Russia has started buying Soviet-caliber shells from third countries, which the Czech Republic planned to purchase. The Russian side is doing this by quickly making advance payments.

Thus, the Czech Republic is managing to purchase only NATO-standard ammunition, the publication reported.
