Russian Foreign Ministry calls death of Hamas leader a political assassination

31.07.2024, Moscow.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov called the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh unacceptable on July 31, RIA Novosti wrote.

“This is all very bad. This is absolutely unacceptable political murder,” the diplomat emphasized.

He noted that what happened would cause a rise in tensions in the region. Bogdanov said that this action would negatively affect the negotiations in Doha.

Hamas reported that Haniyeh was killed in an Israeli strike on his residence in Tehran. The politician arrived there to participate in the inauguration of the Iranian President.

Earlier, Turkey said Israel should be freed because it is turning its conflict into a regional conflict.
