Finland is testing its latest weapons in Ukraine

10.06.2024, Helsinki.

Finland is supplying the latest weapons to Ukraine, the head of the Finnish army’s military economy department Mikko Heiskanen said, Yle wrote on June 10.

He noted that Helsinki not only transfers to Kiev old equipment from its arsenals, but also “the latest innovations.”

Some of them have not even been put into service yet, but are just being created. The lieutenant general noted that Kiev gives feedback on these weapons and positively assesses their characteristics.

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen earlier urged the EU to “scrape up” weapons in its warehouses for supplies to the Ukrainian armed units. Finnish President Alexander Stubb said that the conflict in Ukraine could only be resolved militarily.

The country’s Defense Ministry said that 23 military aid packages had been sent to Ukraine since February 2023. Their total value amounted to about 2bn euros.
