The conference on Ukraine in Switzerland will be held without the participation of Mexico and Nicaragua, Izvestiya wrote on June 07, citing the Mexican Embassy in Russia and the Foreign Ministry of Nicaragua.
The countries received an invitation from the organizers, but will not send their diplomats there.
The Mexican diplomatic mission points out that “both sides of the conflict” should be represented at the talks.
Representatives of the Nicaraguan Foreign Ministry called the upcoming conference a “political farce.” It is aimed at “presenting Russia with yet another ultimatum” rather than finding a path to peace, according to Managua.
A “conference on Ukraine” is scheduled for June 15-16 in Switzerland, to which more than 160 delegations were invited. Russia did not receive an invitation, while many invited countries refused to participate or continued to reduce the level of their representation.
