Kurginyan discusses who benefits from the “Islamist” version of the terrorist attack in Crocus

27.03.2024, Moscow.

The version about involvement of ISIL (organization banned in Russia) in the terrorist attack in the Crocus City Hall near Moscow is inconsistent for a number of reasons, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, philosopher and political scientist Sergey Kurginyan said in his address published on March 23 by Rossa Primavera News Agency.

First of all, we understand perfectly well who this ISIL (organization banned in Russia) is. Secondly, it is non-existent as a structure capable of triumphant action. Thirdly, why would it need that? What would it seek, and can it seek anything on its own?” the political scientist said.

According to Kurginyan, Russia is currently in the cold phase of its interaction with this structure: processes in Syria are folding, and Russia does not affect this structure now in any excessive way.

Kurginyan reminded that ISIL (organization banned in Russia) has been controlled by Western security services, and the West would like to strain our relations with Islam and to open a second front.

But our relations with Islam are good as never before, we never had relations this good with Islam previously. This applies both to states, which, by the way, are sending us their condolences, and various structures, because we are now play a mediatory role between HAMAS and Israel, the structure and the West etc. Besides, even the Houthis say that they cannot touch China and Russia. So why would some Islamic structure suddenly go off the leash and become insane? And what are its capabilities in Russia?” the analyst concluded.

Kurginyan also noted that he does not believe in the version that those who committed this terrorist attack could belong to a diaspora in Russia.

In this aspect I trust our security services. And I also believe that it is too over-organized much more than any Russians. And that about any situation of that kind such a diaspora would learn sooner than any US or whoever else, and even our security services. (…) Therefore, it would have been aware if it had been its members. It would have been aware about any conversation in any place, and it would have reported about it to its handlers as well as in order to secure itself,” Kurginyan explained.
