Russia has a long-pending need for a real reconciliation between patriotic advocates of various periods of our history, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said on December 12 on his original broadcast Destiny.
He stressed that a genuine reconciliation must be a deep synthesis of various periods of Russia’s historical life.
“This has been my belief all my life, and I have always stressed that I will never pick on every minor issue while defending any ‘red’ things or in a polemic on ‘white’ things. All I need and, I believe, all our society needs is exactly reconciliation and synthesis,” Kurginyan said.
The political scientist expressed support to an article in the Intelligence Officer journal by Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service (Russian: SVR) Sergey Naryshkin who gave a positive assessment to the role of F. E. Dzerzhinsky as a hero who kept his belief in building a fair society all his life. The political scientist noted that the SVR director’s statement is very precise and very intelligent, and that his words about the deadliness of the “liberal” path of Russia of recent decades is essentially beyond dispute.
However, Kurginyan noted, Naryshkin’s statement raises a natural question about how exactly we could get rid of the “liberal daze” that possessed the Russian society for decades.
“How can we wake up from the liberal ‘daze’ that has been bubbling and adopted by the society over 30 years and even longer? I completely agree that we need to wake up from it. The question is how can we do it?” the leader of the Essence of Time movement stressed.
He added that the answer to this question is closely related to the problem of the synthesis of all the periods of the Russian history on a patriotic basis. Kurginyan stressed that it is not only the split between the “white” and the “red” apologists that needs to be repaired in the public conscience, but a connection with older periods of the integrate Russian history needs to be made, i.e. the entire period of the Romanovs rule and the Muscovite Kingdom, along with the resolution of the contradictions between Saint Petersburg and Moscow and the synthesis of the Christian and pre-Christian periods of the Russian history.
“Because this is a kind of a meta-text, in which the Russian soul is creating something necessary for itself and the world,” Kurginyan summarized the urgent need for such a synthesis in order to reach a historical balance and understanding of Russia’s role in the world without which our society cannot come to a deep reconciliation.
On September 11 in Moscow, a copy of the well-known memorial to Dzerzhinsky by Evgeny Vuchetich on the Lubyanskaya Square was opened. Previously, the memorial was located in front of the building of the state security authorities on the Lubyanskaya Square. The memorial was dismantled and removed from the Lubyanskaya Square to the Museon museum park.
