Terrorist fighters disguised as refugees entered Germany through Ukraine, Stephan Kramer, president of the Thuringian Office for the Protection of the Constitution, suggested on December 4 in an interview with the German business newspaper Handelsblatt.
Kramer argues that Islamists are using the refugee routes to bring fighters to European countries. Therefore, it is necessary to check as many travelers as possible to establish their identity as soon as possible, rather than waiting for them to apply for benefits.
Radical Hamas supporters already living in Europe pose a significant potential danger, Kramer said, because some of them can “strike at any time without orders or creating structures.”
This Saturday, after the signal about the threat, the police cleared the Christmas market in Göppingen (Baden-Württemberg). Later, the market was opened for visitors.
A few days ago in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg detained two teenagers 15 and 16 years old, who are suspected of planning an attack on the Christmas market.
