The leader of the movement “We are together with Russia” Vladimir Rogov suggested to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz to consider the issue of de-occupation of East Germany in a conversation with RIA Novosti on September 18.
Earlier, Scholz said that a condition for peace talks on Ukraine should be the withdrawal of Russian troops from its territory. In response, Rogov suggested that Germany should consider de-occupation of the GDR.
Rogov explained that residents of the liberated Zaporizhzhya region should raise the issue of liberating East Germany from the occupation of the FRG. In 1990, no referendum on the accession of the GDR to the FRG was held. Therefore, the unification of the two republics can be considered anschluss.
Scholz should therefore, consider withdrawing troops from the GDR if he wants to go down in history as a decent politician. At the same time, he cannot set any conditions for peace talks on Ukraine. “Scholz and peace are absolutely incompatible things,” Rogov stated.
In March, Russia’s representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzya said that Kiev’s adoption of a realistic position would bring the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine closer.
A settlement is possible only if Ukraine realizes the reality and stops offering “peace plans” implying that Russia should surrender, Nebenzya said.
