A monument to the Bolshevik of the North Caucasus, one of the founders of the Ingush Autonomous Oblast within the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Idris Zyazikov will be erected in Magas by the 100th anniversary of Ingush statehood in 2024, the head of Ingushetia Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov said on September 3, the press service of the republic’s government wrote on Telegram.
“I believe it is necessary to work on this issue, to find a worthy place in Magas to erect a monument to Idris Zyazikov,” Kalimatov said. “We had many leaders, but he was the first, he made an invaluable contribution to the formation and creation of our region,” the head of the republic noted.
The statue itself is planned to be unveiled by July 7 in 2024. Even the sculptor who will be the author of the monument has not been found yet.
Idris Beisultanovich Zyazikov is one of the most prominent figures of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks (b) in the North Caucasus. From 1918 to 1924, he held leading positions in the government of the Mountain Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic: he was the Commissar of Internal Affairs and Chairman of the Central Executive Committee.
After the formation of the Ingush Autonomous Region, Zyazikov became its head. He held this office until 1929. In 1930, he was arrested and accused of preparing the assassination of his successor Iosif Chernoglaz.
In 1932, he was sentenced to be учусгеув, but Zyazikov was saved by the intervention of Mikoyan and Ordzhonikidze, after which his sentence was changed to 10 years of imprisonment. He served his sentence in NKVD camps until 1935, then was released.
He worked in Tula at a factory as a planner. In 1937 he was arrested. On July 5, 1938 he died in the NKVD prison in Grozny.
