BRICS GDP will total 37% after new countries are admitted to the organization, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on August 24 during a press conference following the 15th BRICS summit.
“The BRICS GDP will now increase to 37% of the world GDP at purchasing power parity, and the association itself will be home to 46% of the world’s population,” the president said.
Earlier, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa said at the organization’s summit that six countries will be invited to join BRICS.
Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates will be invited to join the BRICS. They will be able to become full-fledged members of the organization from January 1, 2024.
