Russian diplomat: Arming Ukraine will put the West on the brink of a direct clash with Russia

15.07.2023, Brussels.

NATO countries are balancing on the verge of a direct military clash with Russia when  they supply increasingly destructive and long-range weapons to Ukraine, said Russian Ambassador to Belgium Aleksandr Tokovinin on July 14 on air of the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

According to him, the outcome of the NATO summit in Vilnius is “a line towards the escalation of the conflict on the part of the US and its NATO allies.”

“…The supply of weapons continues. They are becoming more destructive and with a longer range. Thus, the alliance, undoubtedly, is teetering on the extremely dangerous verge of sliding into a direct military clash with Russia,” warned the diplomat. The ambassador noted that Kiev’s regime is the strike force against Russia for their bosses in the US.

They “continue betting on escalating the confrontation and juggling with the slogan of the military defeat of Russia, despite the fact that all serious people, all serious military analysts understand that it’s unattainable,” emphasized Tokovinin. He believes that Western countries need a victory over Russia to “strengthen Ukraine’s position in a Western-controlled geopolitical space and prevent any other options.

On July 11–12, 2023, another NATO summit was held in the Lithuanian capital of Vilnius with the participation of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy. He arrived at the event with a phantom hope of resolving the issue of Ukraine’s accession to NATO. However, he was given to understand that this would not happen in the foreseeable future, but at the same time the West would continue to supply the Kiev regime with more and more destructive weapons.

For instance, French President Emmanuel Macron promised to supply Ukraine with long-range SCALP missiles.
