Kurginyan: Putin made no concessions to coup’s participants, and Prigozhin gave up his ambitions

Russian President Vladimir Putin acted optimally in the situation of the Wagner mutiny, while Prigozhin gave up his political ambitions, political scientist, philosopher, and leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan said on June 30 on the “Conversation with a Sage” program on the Radio Zvezda.

“Kurginin said, “From a situational point of view, what has been done [by Putin – Rossa Primavera News Agency] is optimal.”

Kurginyan noted that he has always sympathized with President Aleksandr Lukashenko, adding that he has once again justified his expectations. The political scientist however added that this is not the point in this case.

“It’s about Putin, of course. Putin has managed to deal with the greatest danger to his power in the best way possible, since that danger had already arisen!” the leader of the Essence of Time movement explained.

Kurginyan stressed that the question of preventing such situations in future is another matter. But, according to him, when the situation arose, Putin made no concessions, but Prigozhin gave up his ambitions.

“He [Putin – Rossa Primavera News Agency] made no concessions, this is already a question of Prigozhin’s qualities and his real political ambitions. He gave up those ambitions by agreeing to a compromise – whether there will be any further confrontations is another matter.”

Kurginyan stressed that minutes are worth days of life during a coup. He expressed the opinion that the coup can only be successful if its participants are determined to fulfill it.

“Did Prigozhin set off to Moscow? When I was a boy, my father taught me that, ‘if you raise your hand, strike, even if you realize it is in vain, strike anyway, otherwise it makes no sense to raise your hand’,” Essence of Time’s leader said.
