Russian Federal Security Service: German citizen arrested for sabotage was recruited by Ukraine

German citizen Nikolai Gaiduk, arrested by FSB officers on the border with Poland on suspicion of committing sabotage in Russia, admitted the fact of recruitment by his former colleague, a lieutenant colonel of Ukraine, the FSB press service reported on November 20.

According to the press service, in November 2023, Gaiduk was recruited by his fellow officer, former Odessa police lieutenant colonel Alexander Zhorov, who urged the suspect to “make a contribution” to ending the conflict in Ukraine and to carry out a bombing of a gas distribution station in Kaliningrad.

On November 20, law enforcers detained Nikolay Gaiduk, a resident of German Hamburg, while trying to enter the Kaliningrad region from Poland. It is reported that 0.5 liters of liquid explosives were seized from the suspect during the inspection of the car. The man was charged with organizing sabotage activities at energy facilities in the Kaliningrad region.
