Along with numerous positive characteristics, humanity has terrible things as well, which we do not want to discuss at all, the leader of the Essence of Time movement, political scientist and philosopher Sergey Kurginyan said in his congratulatory address on the anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution on November 7.
According to the philosopher, Man is the only living creature on the Earth whose will to kill beyond its natural need is obvious. Only humans can kill living creatures not for eating but in much greater numbers that it is necessary to survive. Another difference, according to the political scientist, is the fact that Man is the only living creature that improves its murder weapons.
“I have repeated many times that a sabre-toothed tiger or a contemporary grizzly bear have certain murder weapons. Perhaps nature will improve them over million years, or half a million, or three million, or a billion, I do not know. But they have the fangs that they have. And this animal will kill exactly as much as it needs to eat,” Kurginyan said.
The leader of Essence of Time believes that humanity has not only violated these two naturals postulate throughout its history, but it will continue to violate them in the future through improving its fangs – bacteriological, thermonuclear, laser, and other kinds of weapons, until it destroys itself and the planet as we know it today.
The philosopher noted that some authors in various times tried to discuss the combination of the beautiful and the terrible in every human. As an example the political scientist referred to Shakespeare’s Hamlet who, speaking to Rosencrantz and Guildenstern, numbers multiple wonderful characteristics of Man, and then he says, “And yet to me, what is this quintessence of dust?”
Kurginyan also reminded about the art of Dostoevsky who, speaking about Man, not only slobbers over “the beauty will save the world,” but he also, in the person of his heroes, asks why Man loves destruction and chaos so much, without any doubt that he really loves that.
“We have to admit that the entire problem of Man has distressed people over millennia, and there have always been people who believe in Man and those who do not,” the leader of Essence of Time concluded.
