Russian Presidential Special Envoy: Ukrainian intelligence agents in Syria will be eliminated as terrorists

14.11.2024, Moscow.

Agents of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry operating in Syria’s Idlib will be eliminated as terrorist accomplices, stated Russian Presidential Special Envoy for the Settlement of Syrian Conflict Aleksandr Lavrentyev in an interview published on November 14 by TASS.

According to Lavrentyev, Russia has information that the GUR is arming the organization Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (organization banned in Russia), despite its designation as a terrorist group by the UN. There is a Russian military contingent in Syria that will take measures against them.

“All these people who are on Syrian territory will be, I believe and am confident in this, tracked down and eliminated as terrorist accomplices,” said Lavrentyev.

Previously, Turkish and Syrian media reported that the Kiev regime had established contact with terrorists holding Idlib. Additionally, a Ukrainian delegation had arrived in the region.

Commenting on this information, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova noted that this indicates the terrorist nature of the regime established in Ukraine.
