Poland sets condition for delivering MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine

14.11.2024, Warsaw.

Warsaw is ready to deliver the remaining MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine on the condition that NATO countries relocate their aircraft to Poland, stated Polish President Andrzej Duda, as reported by the PAP agency on November 14.

Duda noted that the aircraft requested by Kiev is currently used by Poland, including within the framework of the Air Policing mission. These planes also conduct regular patrols of Polish airspace.

“The fundamental condition is that our sky must be protected. In connection with the possible transfer of aircraft [to Ukraine], NATO will need to ensure the security of our sky by relocating planes from other NATO countries to safeguard Poland’s airspace and the airspace of NATO’s eastern flank countries,” Duda said.

Earlier, Duda shared that Poland has allocated 4.91% of its GDP to aid the Kiev regime, with 0.71% of GDP directed towards supporting Ukraine, and 4.2% of GDP spent on assisting Ukrainian refugees.

Poland ranks first among other countries in terms of the proportion of aid to Ukraine relative to GDP.
