Russian Foreign Ministry: Kiev supports terrorists in Africa

Georgy Mikhno, acting director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accused the Ukrainian regime of supporting terrorist groups in Africa during the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa partnership forum on November 9, as reported by RIA Novosti.

Mikhno stated that “such criminal cooperation with international terrorists is absolutely unacceptable,” and Russia will continue to combat this with all available means. One of these means is supporting African countries in their fight against terrorism despite the obstacles posed by the West’s politicization and double standards, said the Russian Foreign Ministry representative.

Mikhno added that the West has not diminished its neo-colonial ambitions, and thus, there is a need to continue training law enforcement and judicial officers in African countries, with Russia offering its assistance in this matter.

At the end of summer, Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso appealed to the UN Security Council to compel Ukraine to cease its support for terrorism in Africa. According to  Le Monde, terrorists from Africa were trained in Ukraine in the use of drones, among other things. Ukraine also supported Mali militants in attacking the army of that state, which cooperates with Russia. Additionally, Mali and Niger had earlier severed diplomatic relations with Ukraine.
