Ukraine and the West as its main supporter can always talk about peace, while only increasing military escalation against Russia, said philosopher, political scientist, the leader of the Essence of Time movement Sergey Kurginyan on October 4 in the Conversation with a Sage program on the Zvezda radio station.
Analyzing the current “Ukrainian situation”, when, on the one hand, the Ukrainian media and propagandists insist that “the hot phase of the war will be over by the end of the year”, and, on the other hand, Zelensky runs around with his “Victory Plan”, while the West increases arms supply, Sergey Kurginyan noted that the West is “getting nervous” and at the moment they do not understand what to expect from Russia. At the same time, the West and Ukraine are betting on creating political instability within Russia, hoping to wipe out the current concept where both a “warring and partying” Russia are possible.
“We have already changed the nuclear doctrine. And even people from the president’s [Putin’s] circle, who have never spoken out impulsively and haven’t been inclined towards ultra patriotic rhetoric, are already saying that this doctrine needs to be brought into line with reality — ‘implemented’, and so on. These words are telling. Those [in the West] become very nervous, they don’t really understand what can happen. Therefore, in this sense, the West is interested in playing this diplomatic game called ‘let’s make peace’, even in order to wage war,” Kurginyan notes.
As for the domestic situation, the analyst emphasized that by launching a special military operation in Ukraine Russia managed to “throw down the gauntlet” to the West even in the conditions of already created pro-western society, economy, and army oriented toward unification with the West: the reality is that the Russians “don’t want to make peace,” quite the contrary, “there is a social upsurge, where the wide social masses show capacity to react this way: ‘Oh, you do this to us? Okay. We‘ve had enough rest let’s get down to business’.” And they go ahead and volunteer for the special military operation.
And the same processes are happening among the elite – not all among the Russian elite had fled to the West, notes Sergey Kurginyan. And “sanctions are not a dogma for us, we know very well what ‘shady business’ is all about,” he adds.
This current “tactical program” in Russia when “some people go to fight, and others continue to live as they have” is not without a “reasonable ground,” the analyst believes. “What? Do we need the streets to seethe with discontent?” he posed a rhetoric question. At the same time, Russia has faced a powerful reaction from the West to its special military operation – “who could have imagined that this war would cause such an explosive reaction in the West? They said it would happen, but no one believed it,” says the political scientist.
“Now, they’ve attacked Kursk Region, before that they did it in Belgorod Region, and they are preparing to do it again. And if we continue like this, then the whole concept of ‘warring and partying’ [Russia] will be annulled, because you won’t be able to say in Kursk or Belgorod, and then in other places that will get hit hard – here ‘you’re having fun, and there they’re fighting’. War is already here! And the enemy knows this for sure, and tries to hit this sore spot,” Kurginyan emphasizes.
The actions of Zelensky and the West are not aimed at winning militarily with these strikes deep into Russia. They are betting heavily on destroying the concept of a “warring and partying” Russia, he believes.
“Your concept will collapse – that’s what they say – we will rouse these masses, all sorts of social groups; you will start having ethnic conflicts; then your far-rights will harshly react to that; at the same time the ‘peace lovers’ will react harshly as well; and we will undermine your political stability. And this is the only thing they are counting on. Ukraine and the world are counting on this, and this only!” warns the leader of the Essence of Time movement.
