Iran’s defense budget will be tripled – more than a 200% increase – in the new calendar year starting March 21, 2025, announced Iranian government spokesperson Fatemeh Mohajerani at a press conference on October 29, as reported by ISNA.
“In the budget, which is meant to cover all the country’s expenses, every effort has been made to meet the defense needs of the country, with special attention given to this issue. Therefore, we are witnessing a significant – more than 200% – increase in the military budget,” said Mohajerani.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei stated on October 29 that Israel miscalculated by attacking Iran.
“The Zionist regime made a mistake and miscalculated regarding Iran. We will make them understand the strength, capabilities, initiative, and resolve of the Iranian people,” Khamenei posted on his social media account on platform X.
On October 26, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced missile strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, calling it a response to the strikes on Israel on October 1.
CBS News, citing sources, reported that the Israeli attack on Iran targeted only military sites and did not attempt to hit nuclear and oil facilities. According to IRNA, Iran’s oil infrastructure was neither hit nor damaged.
Fars News Agency reported that Israel launched missile strikes on several military bases in western and southwestern Tehran. However, Tasnim News Agency stated that the military facilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), located in western and southwestern Tehran, remain intact and undamaged.
