Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service: Ukrainian fighters planned to seize and place mines in Kursk NPP

The Ukrainian armed units planned to seize and place mines in the Kursk nuclear power plant during an attack on Kursk Region, Director of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence (SVR) Service Sergey Naryshkin said, the SVR press service reported on October 7.

“According to the data available to the SVR, the plan of the terrorist attack included seizing and placing mines in the Kursk nuclear power plant,” Naryshkin said during the 55th meeting of the Council of Heads of Security Bodies and Special Services of the Commonwealth of Independent States member states.

According to him, if the Ukrainian armed units succeeded in carrying out their plan, Europe would be threatened with an ecological and humanitarian catastrophe on a scale comparable to Chernobyl.
