Slovak Prime Minister assesses Trump’s chances of ending conflict in Ukraine

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico evaluated Donald Trump’s chances of ending the conflict in Ukraine if elected during the Sobotné Dialógy on October 5.

He remarked that everyone seems to be waiting for the new US president as some sort of miracle. While he refrained from expressing his personal preferences, stating that it is entirely up to the US citizen, he noted that presidential candidates often make bold statements, particularly regarding the end of the war in Ukraine. He believes that “if Donald Trump is elected, the likelihood of ending the conflict is significantly higher than if Ms. Harris is elected.”

The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5. Vice President Kamala Harris is running for the Democratic Party, while former President Donald Trump is the Republican candidate.

According to recent polls, Harris holds an advantage. In mid-September, 49.1% of respondents were ready to vote for her, compared to 47.3% for Trump. By early October, support for the Democratic candidate had increased to 49.3%, while support for the Republican candidate remained unchanged.
