Macron: Arms supplies to Israel must be stopped, but not to Ukraine

05.10.2024, Paris.

Stopping the supply of arms to Tel Aviv is a priority for resolving the Middle East conflict, stated French President Emmanuel Macron on October 5 during a broadcast on France Inter radio.

“I believe that the priority now is to return to a political settlement; it is necessary to stop supplying weapons for the fighting in Gaza,” the French president said.

Macron added that Tel Aviv is not paying attention to French peace initiatives. He stated that Israel made a mistake by starting military actions in Gaza. Additionally, Macron called for an end to the fighting in Lebanon, saying that the Lebanese people should not be sacrificed and Lebanon should not become a new Gaza.

It is noteworthy that Macron has repeatedly emphasized the need to continue supporting the Kyiv regime with weapons. Furthermore, in the spring of 2024, media reports indicated that the French president approved the dispatch of a foreign legion to assist the Ukrainian armed units.
