The Russian army liberated the town of Ugledar, the Russian Defense Ministry press service informed on October 3.
“As a result of decisive actions by the units of the Group of Forces Vostok, the town of Ugledar in the Donetsk People’s Republic has been liberated,” the ministry stated.
On October 1, Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the Public Chamber Commission of the Russian Federation on Sovereignty Issues and Co-Chairman of the Coordinating Council for the Integration of New Regions, announced that Ugledar was effectively encircled by Russian forces, with enemy forces being pushed northward.
On October 2, the command of the Ukrainian armed units ordered a retreat from Ugledar.
Ugledar is located approximately 60-70 kilometers southwest of Donetsk and is a significant logistical center in the Donetsk People’s Republic. Its liberation will push the Ukrainian armed units away from Donetsk and reduce the intensity of shelling on Yelenovka and the surrounding areas of Volnovakha.
