Mali agrees with Russia on lithium exploration

The Republic of Mali reached an agreement with Russian companies on geological exploration of lithium, oil, and gas deposits within its territory, announced Mali’s Minister of Economy and Finance, Alousséni Sanou, on September 29, as reported by the online publication aBamako.

“Mali has negotiated with Russian companies such as Rosatom and Techsnabexport regarding the exploration and development of natural resources,” the minister stated.

According to Sanou, a plan for commencing work has already been prepared, and the first group of specialists from Russia may arrive in the country by the end of October this year. The minister added that the extraction of mineral resources will provide Mali with the necessary means to begin funding other sectors of the economy.
