Belarus needs to prepare for a possible war by strengthening its defense capabilities, said President Aleksandr Lukashenko at a meeting at the Obuz-Lesnovsky firing range, BelTA informs on September 24.
“The well-known formula: If you want peace, prepare for war. Once again, I want to emphasize (although why should we justify ourselves to anyone) that we’re not going to wage war; we don’t want to go to war… All this has already been said. Our opponents, our rivals are listening to this, but they are doing their job. Those who are preparing, let’s be blunt, to go to war against us. So we have to prepare for war. And God forbid that this war will not happen,” the Belarusian President said.
Lukashenko emphasized that despite the fact that the situation is tense, he sees no prerequisites for unleashing war against Belarus.
The President pointed out that the Armed Forces of Belarus had been reformed four times in recent years. The reason for this was the turbulent situation and a large number of conflicts around the world, including in Ukraine.
