It is too early to discuss a new summit on the situation in Ukraine similar to the one held in Switzerland in June, stated India’s First Deputy Foreign Minister Vikram Misri on September 23. His comments followed the meeting between Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in New York, Economic Times reports.
Misri emphasized that recent discussions among politicians included the prospect of a peace summit similar to the one in Switzerland and the possibility of a second summit on peace settlement, as mentioned by Ukraine.
He noted that the current situation is not at a stage where a second such summit can be considered. Misri stated that there is still much work to be done before such an event takes place, and hence, this issue was not extensively discussed by the politicians.
Following Modi’s visit to Ukraine, Indian media reported that Zelensky proposed India host the second summit. For this, New Delhi would need to sign the final document of the first summit, which was adopted without considering Russia’s opinion.
