Ukrainian units caught in a “fire pocket” in Kursk Region

Part of the Ukrainian militants who invaded Kursk Region got into a fire pocket during the Russian counteroffensive from which they could not break through. The commander of one of the Russian units of the 155th Guards Marine Brigade of the Russian Pacific Fleet, part of the Group of Forces Sever, said this on September 17, RIA Novosti informed.

“During the counteroffensive on September 10, the enemy got into a fire pocket, from which he is trying to get out to this day,” the agency quoted the commander as saying.

According to the Russian serviceman, the Ukrainian armed units “sent [to Kursk Region] a fairly serious armed group,” having withdrawn units from the Donetsk direction, among others.

According to the commander, the enemy was counting on a blitzkrieg, but failed.

On August 6, the Ukrainian militants invaded the territory of Kursk Region and seized a number of settlements.

On September 10, units of the Russian Armed Forces launched a counter-offensive in Kursk region. On September 12, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Russian Armed Forces had liberated 10 settlements in the region.

It should also be noted that on September 16, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian troops had established control over two more settlements in Kursk Region
