Russian President Vladimir Putin’s words that NATO is considering direct involvement in the conflict in Ukraine declined to comment, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment at a briefing on September 12.

I’m not going to touch on hypotheticals. I will not get into internal political discussions,” – said Jean-Pierre.

Putin said on Sept. 12 that NATO countries are not just discussing the possibility of Kiev using Western long-range armed systems, but the possibility of direct involvement in the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, the AFU can not strike with such weapons, because the flight assignments in the Western long-range missile systems can only be made by NATO servicemen, and these missiles are directed only using intelligence from satellites.

Putin emphasized that such direct involvement of the Western military in the conflict in Ukraine would significantly change it and would mean that NATO members are at war with Russia. He promised that Russia would base its actions on the threats posed to it.
