The first units from a new batch of F-16Vs will arrive in Taiwan before the end of the month, Taiwan News reported on September 12.
The Taiwanese military will attend a ceremony to hand over the machines in the United States. The planes were supposed to start arriving on the island last year, but there was a delay.
Taiwan is expecting a shipment of 66 machines. Along with Bahrain and Slovakia, the military islands will be receiving the latest versions of the aircraft.
They intend to establish the largest center to maintain the machines and store ammunition for them, including AIM-9X and AGM-154 missiles.
Next year, 65 people will be sent to the US for training in the F-16V. Once trained, they will be able to train new pilots. The training has been taking place at Morris Air National Guard Base in Tucson since 2020.
