Turkey sees US unhappy with Ankara’s rapprochement with Damascus

08.09.2024, Turkey.

The US is concerned about a possible meeting between the leaders of Turkey and Syria, Omer Çelik, a spokesman for Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), told Habertürk TV on September 7.

He said such a meeting was possible and should be preceded by a meeting at the level of foreign ministers.

It is very interesting that the US is concerned about this,” Çelik stated.

He noted that the US continues to support Kurdish organizations, which are considered terrorist in Turkey. The politician believes that the establishment of relations with Syria will hit the Kurdish formations and their sponsors.
